So, basically it's an Etymotic that can't be inserted deep enough. The average person is probably better off getting the new Ety SR or XR. I'm looking forward to the review whenever you can get your hands on them.
ReplyDeleteAlso, please consider reviewing/measuring some common products at the other end of the price spectrum, like Panasonic HJE-120 and TCM-125, Philips SHE3590 and SHE3905, VE Monk, etc, maybe even the Earpods. Your opinion on what to buy or how to mod these cheapies for the best sound has the potential to many, many more people.
Thanks for your advice. I'd better try those low price products as well.
DeleteSorry for the off-topic follow-up, but I noticed that you measured the UE100 back in August 2015. Info like that is very useful to many more people. I got it for $5; it sounds decent and it outperforms many things that you have measured here. Unfortunately, it's easy to crinkle the driver during insertion. It's also getting hard to find in stores, e.g., Amazon.
DeleteI'm sure there's another $10 undiscovered gem out there lurking in the clearance bins--maybe one that can be polished with a few easy mods. Or maybe something well-known but largely ignored.
Agree. UE100 was one of the most cost-effective IEM that I'd ever tried. I hope I can find out more cost-effective IEMs like that.
DeleteBTW, I recently got a Panasonic HJE-120, which you've mentioned above. Maybe I can upload it shortly.
Do you hear that 8kHz peak?
ReplyDeleteIf so, is it bothersome?
I can hear that but not that bothersome. This peak makes the overall sound too bright, though.
